A surface to low level shearline/easterly wave feature is crossing the Islands. Late Sunday into earlier Monday morning, mostly cloudy skies with occasional showers were experienced across St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). Decrease in shower activity is expected this afternoon, with moisture levels increasing again on Tuesday as a trough (near 700mb) approaches the islands.

Latest analysis indicates that the greater accumulations are possible late Tuesday into Wednesday as moisture converges (instability) across our area. Cloudy skies and scattered showers mixed with hazy conditions may be experienced on Wednesday as a mass of dust is also approaching the islands. Residents and motorist should be alert/exercise due caution as instability and moisture associated with trough could result in rainfall accumulations of 1 inch - 2 inches. Upper level conditions could enhance shower activity by Thursday, as trailing lower level moisture positions under an upper level jet stream.

Moderate to fresh easterly breeze (25-38 km/h) should continue. A decrease is expected by Tuesday evening into Wednesday, with winds veering to east south-east.

Mean sea-level pressure should remain between 1016-1018 mb as the Central Atlantic High Pressure is joined by Western Atlantic High Pressure by mid-week. Sea swells from the ENE are expected to be moderate and occasionally moderate to rough on east coasts (falling slightly on Wednesday as winds subside temporarily)…. Advisory to exercise caution is being issued.

Patches of dust concentration of varying intensity across the islands are occasionally reducing visibility. Dust concentrations (20-40 µg/m3) are now expected to thicken late Wednesday after the trough passes.
