A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines
At 11:00 am, Tropical Storm Kirk was near 12.1°N 54.3°W or about 420 miles …676km east of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The minimum central pressure from Air Force Hurricane Hunter was 1002 mb (29.59 inches)
Maximum sustained winds were near 50 mph...85 km/h
Movement was towards the west near 18 mph (30 km/h) and a westward to west- northwestward motion is expected over the next few days.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center.
The center of ‘T.S Kirk’ is expected to pass between 80 to 100 miles north of St. Vincent and the Grenadines between Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon.
Regardless of further development, occasional surface winds between 25 to 35 mph (40 to 55 km/h) with higher gusts could spread across the islands starting tonight and persisting late Thursday into early Friday.
Moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and scattered thunderstorms can be expected, with rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100 mm) and even greater in mountainous areas between Wednesday night and Friday. Residents should take the necessary precautions.
Large easterly swells of 3.0 to 3.5 (10 to 12 ft) could accompany ‘T.S Kirk’ by Thursday afternoon. By late Friday, northerly swells generated by Post-Tropical cyclone Leslie, are expected to propagate southwards with swells 1.2 to 2.5m (6 to 10ft) possible on our northern and eastern coasts. Low-lying coastlines could be particularly vulnerable especially at times of high tide. Large waves and dangerous rip-tides can create unsafe conditions for small-craft operators, sea-bathers and other users of the sea.
Therefore, a High-Surf Advisory and Small-Craft Warning will be in effect from 6:00 pm Wednesday, 26th September, 2018 until 6:00 am Monday, 1st October.

A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, in this case within 36 hours.
All are asked to stay informed with all updates and advisories being issued by The St Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services as we continue to monitor ” Tropical Storm Kirk”; additional warnings or watches could be issued later today. The next Advisory will be at 6:00 pm this evening.
