A FLASH-FLOOD WATCH is in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Issued: 6:00 pm Monday, 17th August, 2020
A tropical wave coupled with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and a favourable upper level environment will continue to generate moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines tonight into tomorrow. In addition, this instability will produce wind speeds near 12 - 25 mph (20 - 40km/h) with higher gusts near showers.
Rainfall accumulations of 75mm (approximately 3 inches) are possible through Tuesday with isolated higher amounts in mountainous areas.
Thus, a Flash-Flood Watch is in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines from 6:00 p.m today, August 17th 2020 until 12:00 noon Tuesday 18th, 2020.
Residents and motorist in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should exercise caution.
A Flood-Watch is issued when conditions are favourable and there exists the possibility of flooding during the watch period.
This flood watch may be upgraded to a warning if conditions warrant.
