A tropical wave will affect the islands allowing for showers and possible isolated thunderstorms into Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, the ITCZ (Inter Tropical Convergence Zone – where north and south east trades meet and produce showers) is forecast to shift northward near our area temporarily along Wednesday, increasing the chance of showers. Similar weather conditions are anticipated on Thursday as instability lingers. On Friday, a plume of Saharan dust haze is expected to cross our islands. Residents should take the necessary precautions for reduced air quality and visibility due to Saharan dust haze.

Moderate to fresh (~20-35 km/h) east north easterly to easterly trades are crossing our islands, but should increase (~40 km/h) to strong as Wednesday approaches. Seas should remain agitated during this forecast period. Swell heights should range between 1.0 m and 1.5 m on western coasts and between 2.0 m to 2.2 m on eastern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution for above normal sea swells.
