Weather Outlook 31st January 2019 (6 pm)
The lingering deep layered-low pressure area east of the island chain in the Atlantic, continues to propagate low level shearlines/troughs with occasional scattered showers being pushed by easterly trade winds across the island chain. Dry conditions remain above 850mb (~4800ft) which limits shower activity, but few shallow showers are expected tonight into Friday, lingering on Saturday. A relatively dry
lower-level trough-axis should cross late Saturday with dry stable conditions on Sunday to be followed by limited moisture converging across the region late Sunday.
Expect moderate (20 - 35km/h) breeze tonight with varying directions by Friday with the passage of the lower level shearlines/troughs. Occasional reductions to gentle breeze can be expected during the weekend as troughs cross the islands.
Slight to moderate conditions (1.0 – 2.0m), with sea swells originating from north north-east are expected across St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). Wave heights could peak near 1.2m on the west and near 1.8m on the east coasts, but lower heights (0.6 - 1.5m) are expected with slight conditions during Sunday across SVG.
Barometric readings should fluctuate between 1013 - 1018mb with the presence of a stationary front in the Western Atlantic, trough area in the Central Atlantic and the High Pressure System in the North-central Atlantic.
