72 Hours Outlook

The Saharan dust mass will continue to limit visibility across our area tonight, gradually thinning out on Wednesday. Moderate to fresh (20-40km/h) breeze should prevail, with occasional strong gusts (up to 50km/h) overnight. A general reduction wind speeds is expected by Thursday.

A weak low level trough is expected to generate some showers across our area tomorrow, increasing by Wednesday night as an upper level low shifts westward of the island chain providing enhancement for more convective activity as a surface to low level shearline moves into the area Thursday. This could result in moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and thunderstorm activity from Wednesday night into Thursday, decreasing by Friday. Residents and motorists should be on the alert.

Sea swells could increase to 2.4m on the east coast overnight/early morning Wednesday due to the strengthening of Lee; and the position of Lee and Maria in the Atlantic Ocean causing swells to propagate southward. Above normal north north-easterly swells on the east coasts could spread across SVG by Thursday, returning to normal slight to moderate east-north easterly swells by Friday.
