Weather Outlook - 20th January 2023(12 Noon)

A few weak pulses may trigger the odd sporadic light to moderate shower within the next 24 hours as the Atlantic high pressure system remains the dominant feature. A weak trough could affect the islands on Sunday and the earlier parts of Monday. By late Tuesday a ridge pattern should become dominant again.

Moderate to fresh(25-35 km/h) east north easterly trades will cross the islands within the next 24hrs, increasing to strong(near 40kmh) on Monday. Seas are currently moderate in open water with swells peaking near 1.5m on western coasts and ranging between 2.2m to 2.5m on eastern coasts. Sea may deteriorate from Monday as wind speeds increase. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution for above normal sea swells and occasional gusty winds. In addition, Saharan dust haze concentrations should begin to cross our islands by late Sunday.
