72 Hours Outlook
The weather conditions across St. Vincent & the Grenadines over the next 24 hours would be influenced by a strong tropical wave with a low chance(10%) of cyclone formation. A favourable upper level environment exists and this increases the chance of additional pockets of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorm activity. Particularly the southwestern area of mainland St. Vincent was affected by an estimated 50mm(~2 inches) of rainfall within an hour this morning. This resulted in flash flooding in the capital Kingstown. Rainfall accumulations of that nature with isolated higher amounts in mountainous areas are possible over the next 24 hour period. Therefore, the flash-flood watch for SVG remains in effect until further notice. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should continue to exercise caution. Pleasant conditions could return by mid afternoon Friday whereas on Saturday another wave inches closer to the island chain.
