72 Hours Outlook

Weather Outlook for SVG. Valid from 12pm 31st August 2017

A high pressure is becoming the dominant feature over the islands. Occasional cloudiness and a few showers are likely across SVG during the next 24 hours.

Thereafter (by late Friday), a westward moving tropical wave located East of the island chain is expect to move across the islands.

 Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Irma has upgraded to a Category 2 Hurricane. At 11 am today, Hurricane Irma was centered near 16.9°N...33.8°W or 1845 miles East of the Leeward Islands. 

"Irma" is moving west-north west at 10 mph, minimum pressure is 979 mb and maximum sustained winds are 100 mph.

"Irma" poses no immediate threat to land.

The Saint Vincent Meteorological Services will continue to closely monitor the movement of this system.
