Flash Flood Watch - 20th June 2026 (6pm)

A FLASH-FLOOD WATCH is in effect for ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

Issued at 6:00 pm, Saturday 20th June, 2026

The current Flash-Flood Advisory (Yellow Alert Level) is now upgraded to a Flash-Flood Watch (Orange level) until 12:00 PM, Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Occasional cloudy skies, showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave continue to affect the Eastern Caribbean, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate tonight as the upper-level environment becomes more supportive.

Consequently, showers and thunderstorms will become more frequent and intense overnight and into tomorrow. Latest model guidance suggests rainfall accumulations of 50 to 75 millimeters (approximately 2 to 3 inches), with higher amounts possible in mountainous areas. Due to the saturated nature of the soils across the islands from the recent rainfall event, there is a high possibility of flooding and landslides occurring during the watch period.

Residents and motorists in areas prone to flash-flooding and land-slides, or near rivers and streams should exercise caution.

A Flood Watch means that the conditions are favorable and there exists the possibility of flooding within the watch area.

This Flash-flood watch may be upgraded to a warning if conditions warrant or discontinued if conditions significantly improve.
