The Central Atlantic High Pressure System will pump fresh (30-40 km/h) easterly breeze across our islands this afternoon, increasing to strong (30-50 km/h) by nightfall. As the wind surge moves in, a narrow band of moisture should briskly cross our area. A high wind warning will be in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), effective 6 pm today Saturday, 23rd June 2018
until 6pm Monday 25th June 2018 due to expected strong winds. A reduction in wind speeds to mostly fresh should be noticeable by Monday afternoon when the Atlantic High Pressure is expected to weaken.
Meanwhile, slight haze across SVG this afternoon should vary in intensity overnight, but generally thicken late Sunday. By early Monday, dust concentrations of PM2.5 could reach near 30µg/m3 and PM10 levels reaching near 54 µg/m3. Intensity should vary, but visibility and air quality could be significantly reduced well into middle of next week.
Mean sea-level pressure ranging 1014 - 1016 mb could rise to 1018 mb Sunday into early Monday then fall back to 1014- 1017 mb by Tuesday.
The brisk winds are pushing on the ocean waters and moderate sea swells can be expected on the west coast overnight to peak near 2.4 m.
