The Caribbean is under the influence of a dry air mass with the Atlantic High Pressure System being dominant across the eastern Caribbean. A weak easterly wave is expected to cross the Leeward Islands late Wednesday/early Thursday and the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to shift northward during Thursday. A few scattered showers are possible, with increasing chances for

showers with the next tropical wave late Thursday into Friday. While most of the shower activity is expected across the Leeward Islands, upper level conditions should favour scattered showers across our islands on Friday.

Moderate to fresh (25-40km/h) north-easterly easterly breeze should continue tonight, decreasing to moderate (20-30km/h) Wednesday afternoon. Wind direction should temporarily veer to become east south easterly Thursday afternoon. A light/gentle breeze from the east south east can be expected Friday afternoon.

Mariners can expect slight to moderate seas in open water, with swells on west and east coasts between 1.0m and 2.0m overnight. Wave heights should fall (less than 1.2m on west and east coasts) Thursday evening and even appear smooth on west coasts late Friday.

Mariners and persons with respiratory issues should exercise caution as hazy conditions due to dust concentrations continue to reduce visibility and air quality. Dust concentrations should become temporarily patchy during Thursday, thickening again Friday night.
