The mid to upper-level trough gave minimal support to few showers associated with the tropical wave crossing the region. St. Vincent and the Grenadines experienced mixed cloudiness and haze, with only a few showers moving through our Grenadine Islands between late morning and early afternoon. Just south of the Grenadine Islands, Grenada reported gusty winds with shower activity during that same period. The possibility for showers across our islands is being negated by dry air and Saharan dust embedded in the tropical wave, which also reduces visibility occasionally. The accompanying wind-surge is expected across our islands tonight with possibility of a narrow band of showers…Persons in wind exposed areas should be ALERT!
Large branches may be in motion and loose items may become dislodged. The Atlantic High Pressure System should be rebuilding behind the wind-surge and hazy conditions are returning
Easterly fresh (30 - 40 km/h) breeze expected tonight with occasional strong gusts (40 - 50km/h) into early Monday. Direction should veer slightly before backing to east-north-easterly during Tuesday and gradually decrease to moderate breeze.
Moderate sea conditions are across SVG… expect easterly sea-swells ranging 1.2m to 1.5m on the west coasts and 1.5m to 2.5m on the east coasts. Wave heights should be falling in response to reduced wind speeds during Tuesday. Slight to moderate sea conditions should return temporarily near midweek.
Barometric readings now range 1015 – 1017mb, but should dip during Tuesday (1014 - 1016mb) as the Atlantic High becomes eroded by a deepening Low in the far north Atlantic.
