Occasional light to moderate showers are forecast for this afternoon, intensifying by late Friday night into Saturday, as a tropical wave begins to affect the islands. Further more, an upper level trough will enhance unstable conditions at lower levels producing moderate to heavy showers and possible thunderstorms around Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning. Model guidance is indicating a decrease in shower intensity around Sunday morning, but by Sunday evening through Monday, there is a high chance of moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms as the upper level trough deepens across the region.
A gentle (10km/h-25km/h) east south-easterly (ESE) wind flow will move across the island chain tonight into early tomorrow, becoming predominantly east north east to east (ENE-E) from around Saturday afternoon into the new week.
Sea conditions will be slight to moderate in open waters, with swells peaking to 2.0m on the eastern coasts, and 1.0m on the western coasts during this 72 hours period. In addition, there will be slight haze intrusion on Friday, thinning out by Saturday.
