Fair to occasionally cloudy skies and a few scattered showers are forecast for tonight and Friday morning. A marginal increase in moisture will take place from around Friday afternoon, and by Friday night, model guidance is indicating scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms with instability lingering into Saturday. A few occasional scattered showers are forecast for Sunday.
A moderate (15km/h-25km/h) east south-easterly wind flow will blow across the island chain during the next few days. Sea conditions will continue to be smooth to slight on the western coasts with swells ranging between 0.5m-1.0m, and slight to moderate on the western coasts with swells ranging between 1.0m-1.5m. In addition, there will be no significant haze intrusion within this forecast period.
Depression # 18 strengthened to Tropical storm Sam with further strengthening possible by Friday. On its present track, by next Tuesday, Sam should be a major hurricane in the Atlantic passing about north east of SVG. The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services will continue to monitor this system and provide the necessary updates.
