Although a favourable upper level environment exists, a thick plume of Saharan dust is crossing the islands, inhibiting significant shower activity. However, there is some available moisture in the atmosphere(as a result of the northward migration of the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone-ITCZ) that is maintaining cloudy skies and this may allow for the occasional light isolated shower. A low chance of thunderstorm activity also increases near the southern parts of the chain. Haze concentrations may vary in intensity over the next few days.
Gentle to moderate(15-25km/h) east to east south easterly trades will cross the islands within the next 24 hours becoming east north easterly from Friday and occasionally light. Seas are currently slight on western coasts peaking near 1.0m and moderate on eastern coasts peaking near 2.0m. However, small craft operators should exercise caution for reduced visibility in thick Saharan dust haze. Swell heights could become generally slight(0.5m - 1.2m) from late Friday.
