A tropical wave inches closer to the island chain as the hurricane season officially begins. The wave and its associated instability are forecast to dominate the weather pattern across SVG from tonight into Friday. Most of the shower activity is forecast to be behind the wave axis and hence, shower activity may become more intense as the week progresses with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms.
A gentle to moderate easterly (E) wind flow (10km/h-30km/h) will move along the island chain becoming mostly east south-east (ESE) by Friday. Seas will be slight to moderate in open waters with swells peaking at 1.0m on the west coast and 2.0m on the eastern coasts. In addition, there will be no significant haze intrusion within this forecast period.
