Unstable conditions associated with a low level shearline are affecting our islands (St.Vincent and the Grenadines). Cloudy skies, periods of rain with occasional gusts occurring near showers should continue overnight, especially across the Grenadines.
Residents and motorists should continue to exercise caution near rivers, streams and low-lying areas. Moisture levels are expected to remain elevated tomorrow Saturday with the Western High Pressure continually pushing moisture/instability across our area. Additionally, the positioning of upper level features is enhancing shower activity. Another shearline could start affecting our islands late Saturday into Sunday, maintaining instability with occasional cloudiness and scattered showers by Monday increasing on Tuesday as a low-mid level trough approaches.
Fresh to occasionally strong breeze (29-49km/h) should decrease to generally moderate (20-28km/h) by Sunday and Monday.
Harmless clusters and streaks of Sargassum seaweed are present along coastal waters. Moderate seas up to 2.5m on the west and rough seas (up to 3.0m) on the east with above normal north north-easterly swells should be retreating/decreasing by Saturday afternoon. Hence, the HIGH-SURF ADVISORY and SMALL-CRAFT WARNING remains in effect for St Vincent and the Grenadines until 12:00 noon Saturday 24th February, 2018. The next High tide times are overnight/early Saturday around 12:11 am and 12:45 pm. Small-craft operators and Sea-bathers should exercise extreme caution.
