Partly cloudy and hazy conditions are expected overnight with few scattered showers, as a shearline continues to affect the islands. Gentle winds allowed for limited daytime heating to result in localized afternoon showers across some areas.

As an upper level jet-stream meanders with its’ position lending support along a narrow shearline band. As a result, some moderate to heavy downpours were reported across some western areas of mainland St.Vincent.  Similarly, heavy rainfall was reported on western side of Barbados this afternoon.

A low pressure area in the Atlantic Ocean, with associated shearline is extending across the Windward Islands.  In the lower levels, the pressure area is expected to fill to a trough while dipping south across the islands by Friday afternoon. Models suggest rainfall accumulations are likely across mainland Friday, with scattered showers. By Saturday, showers can be expected to spread across St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the low pressure area crosses near the Leeward Islands and moisture converging across SVG. Shower activity should decrease on Sunday as the axis moves west away from our area.

East south-easterly gentle to moderate (12-25km/h) breeze tonight should be mostly gentle by early morning. Light to gentle (6-19km/h) winds should be expected on Friday and Saturday (allowing for localized convection), wind speeds should gradually increase on Sunday.

Mean sea-level pressure could fall on Friday to 1010-1012mb by night-time. Moderate to rough seas with northerly swells are expected overnight. Mariners, small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution, as northerly swells mainly on western shorelines are possible. A decrease in wave heights is expected by Friday afternoon and swell conditions should return to normal by late Saturday.

Seismic activity with undersea volcano Kick'em Jenny, north of Grenada near 12.18N 61.38W has steadily declined, and the alert level for mariners has returned to normal, with an exclusion zone of 1.5 km. Please see www.nadma.gd for additional information.
