72 Hours Outlook

A light wind regime continues and this will maintain warm conditions across SVG. This will facilitate afternoon localized showers with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms for the remainder of Friday with similar conditions forecast for Saturday. On Sunday, approaching unstable conditions will increase the chance of showers and on Monday the probability further increases. Residents should remain alert.

Light (<10km/h) and variable trades are crossing the islands. The wind direction should become south easterly and slightly increase (5-15km/h) by Sunday and further increase (10-20km/h) on Monday. Sea conditions are smooth to moderate with swells ranging from 0.5m to 1.0m on western coasts and peaking to 1.5m on eastern coasts. Hurricane Kirk, although on its current path does not pose any threat to SVG, is generating long period swells across our islands. This is resulting in breaking wave action and dangerous rip currents near the shoreline. Marine users within this area should exercise caution. No significant Saharan dust haze concentrations are expected during this forecast period.
