72 Hours Outlook

Fair to partly cloudy conditions are likely over the next 24 hours as a weak ridge pattern dominates the weather pattern across our islands. A tropical wave would approach our islands by late Tuesday accompanied by breezy conditions. Instability associated with this wave could trigger showers and isolated thunderstorms into Wednesday. On Thursday, improved conditions are likely.

Gentle to moderate (15-25km/h) east south easterly trades are crossing the islands. An increase (20-35km/h) is expected from Tuesday with a temporary shift to east north easterly on Wednesday afternoon. A further increase(~40km/h) is expected on Thursday. Seas are slight to moderate in open waters with swells peaking near 1.0m on western coasts, and 1.5m-2.0m on the eastern coasts. Sea conditions should deteriorate on Tuesday as wind speeds increase. Exercise caution for above normal sea swells. In addition, Saharan dust haze concentrations should return on Thursday, reducing visibility and air quality across our islands. Be alert.
