72 Hours Outlook

A thick plume of Saharan dust haze is encroaching the Eastern Caribbean and this would gradually reduce visibility and air quality across our islands within the next few days. In addition, unstable conditions will continue to generate occasionally cloudy skies and trigger intermittent pockets of showers across our islands tonight into Sunday. As Sunday progresses, relatively fairer conditions should persist as the Atlantic high pressure system is expected to rebuild and dominate the weather pattern into midweek.

Light and gentle (<20km/h) east south easterly trades are crossing the islands and could slightly increase(~25km/h) on Sunday. On Monday, an even further increase(20-30km/h)  is anticipated with a temporary shift to east north easterly during nightfall. Seas are expected to remain slight to moderate in open water with swells peaking near 1.0m on western coasts and ranging between 1.5m to 2.0m on eastern coasts. Small craft operators should exercise caution for reduced visibility in Saharan dust haze.
